"The first man who, having enclosed a piece of ground, to whom it occurred to say this is mine, and found people sufficiently simple to believe him, was the true founder of civil society. How many crimes, wars, murders, how many miseries and horrors Mankind would have been spared by him who, pulling up the stakes to filling in the ditch, had cried out to his kind: Beware of listening to this impostor; You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's." From A Discourse on the Origins of Inequality
by J.J. Rousseau
From the quote above please answer the following question.
How could this be appliciable to today's society and the planet?
I know this is a wide open question that you could write a book about. I only want you to pick a specific point and support it with detailed examples.

Eylül Topanoğlu Law 150.22 Everything had started with the Big Bang. A new planet "earth" was born. Along with this new planet life had started and maybe thousands of years later the miracle of creation, humankind, was alive. Some believes that we are the miracles of God and some says we are derived from monkeys but everyone agrees that humankind is the most intelligent product of the creation or maybe the foolest.
ReplyDeleteThe simple and peaceful life of humankind witnessed a major change with the development of a new fact called private property. The word "we" became "I" and it was where all competitions, poverty, wealth and naturally wars had occured. This quotetion by J.J Rousseau is like an early step to the well known theory of Karl Marx which startes with the common life followed by feudal system, capitalism, socialism and ends with communism. However even they could not predict the bad situation of today's world.
There are two kinds of human in todays world, the weak and the strong one. The foundar of the civil society constructed the balance of the world based on this inequality. The connection between inequality and poverty got stronger with the industrial revolution in which the boundries between the poor and the rich one is clearly drawn. Here we are in the 21th century where some die because of hunger while some die because of obesity. Wealthy countries exploit the natural resources, efforts, culture and even the emotions of the poor ones. They build their factories in the eastern world for cheap labor so that to keep both their countries and hands clean.
This quotation by J.J Rousseau is an early but close inshight of the today's world situation. As the heritor of this civil society built upon inequality we should not forget that we are not permanent and someday we will be a part of earth which we belong.

ReplyDeleteThe first man, who created a land his personal sovereignty, formed the hierarchical structure between people. This structure designated the structural frame of the world. After private property arise, it’s no longer possible to think the world is owned by all the human kind. As Rousseau stated, if a person disregards this statement and believes the equality of people, then he is lost because he believes that there is no way to create a world which is no-ones. It was Marx who believed the only resolution to this matter as the abolition of property. He believes that this social evolution will occurred in a cycle. Mankind started living in a communal life then in antiquity people discovered productive resources and private property; this turned out to feudal system in the middle ages where noble land owners has the economic power, when trade started among people the capitalist economy was born. After this stage Marx predicts that people will embrace socialism and as the last stage they will turn to communal life which will be the last that human kind will experience. Rousseau enforces the idea that every human is good in his nature where the only aim was to stay alive. When mankind started to civilize the loss in basic moral characteristics and embracing unnatural values was born. These new born values and figures developed and changed day after day with wars, discoveries, ideologies which led human kind to terrorism, economic crisis and many other human disasters today which we can blame the first man who enclosed a piece of ground because that is how it started.

ReplyDeletePhilosophers' main objectives on conceiving types of governances is to instal the most efficient type of government in their own thoughts. However these conceivings very rarely happen to be applicable and are mostly utopic. As a matter of fact, Rousseau's thoughts, while seeming very optimistic for his era in one hand, are also still very unreachable and unapplicable in several ways. While the old feodal system on land cannot be removed and underestimated from world's hitory, it becomes now nonsense to bring these theories (which obviously do not base theirselves on sociology and psychology who were actually founded in the same era with Rousseau) back on our time since the sources of economy have been deeply changed and several political systems containing this kind of philosophies have been applied and did not reach any success. İt was mentioned that this subject was such a vast one that we could write a book about it. So I would like to terminate by mentioning that a theory written whithout considering the human nature and needs can not survive in the actual world.
Well to get it in a philosophical way , men will always fight with each other as long as the earth is on and there are men on it. Because of the fact that human nature's base structure is greed and it'll never end whatever occurs or is established. So I believe dear J.J Rousseau's quote is not based on facts we are living with now , or in that century he lived in ,or about a thousand years ago. Men will always put their eye on other men's possessions in order to be even more stronger. It is needless to give examples:We are living with them , watching them and reading them all day.
ReplyDeleteHe surely leaned his ideas to socilogical facts but it's too complicated to be real in this world we're living, too complicated to get in process and work.
On the other hand , today's society won't get any near of this idea. Because the sweet taste of capitalism is on the peek now and all J.J. Rousseau is talking about is now just utopic and non-realistic ,perhaps it'd be an idea-origin of movies and books which contain fantastic and sci-fiction items in today's world but nothing achievable in real.

The concept of private property is not primitive society, people would use nature as a partner. Therefore, everything is given to people in the way of nature, so-called primitive people used equally by. But, then, the people of civilized society becomes, that is the concept of private property occurs when the nature of individual running and began to use and thus, the strong cruch the weak that, among people that the creation of class society have to be started, because of the ambition to be the most powerful people, even the brothers began to fight with each other and between the colonial state races has become intense, so many people unhappy as a prisoner of greed have started to be. İf someone stops the first man, all people could be happy and free.
As J.J. Rousseau claims, if in a country, society or world, people are waived the right to to obtain property, it will create consequences.
ReplyDeleteSuch as, in a country of this thesis applies the state must be the owner of everything.
In this case, it is impossible people to work for a land or property which does not belong to them.
Another problem is that, the government can not stand it. That means, if those resources that meet the needs of all people such as factories, businesses, agriculture, animal husbandry, everything belongs to the state, how would it manage all these, alone? When factories loss, why would all comunity take the penalty, not a person!
This will also prevent development in that country. People will only think of one's will and see that working a lot does not earn them anything. This will prevent people from working and countries will fall behind. Then it will go bankrupt and will cause the destruction of society.
And one of the biggest problems is the destruction of freedom. Will be considered under state control, will implement and as a result, a single type of human model will arise.Such a society's survival is impossible. People will be able to be free to the extent of the state be allowed. In short, each born alive will be owned by state.

ReplyDeleteIt could be helpful to talk about the very beginning of the humanity; Adam and eve. The humankind would not be witnessed the inequality between all people if Adam and eve were not be thrown out from the heaven. According to Islamic belief, the humankind was equipped with information about the universe by God when they started to live in earth but it was not enough to be equipped by God for humans. The information they've got could not been kept for the generations and it cannot transferred by the generations.
To be able to live in better conditions, the humankind learned to live without any concern about the pressure that their conscience brings. It was too much power that they've got to supplying only what they need and as a result of this they started to produce more than they needed to live and they started to keep that surplus value for themselves. Moreover people learned how to acquire a property and how to protect it.
The creation of a concept that defines property become the first prototypes for current governments. New concepts and phenomena’s helped people to improve themselves and consequently this new concepts made new systems and they helped to improve new social structures.
In contemporary societies, the dimension of the inequality between people is unmeasurable. If the first humans could be able to see the future of the humanity in the sense of private property, probably they would never fence their lands.
Nowadays a big percentage of the world is living in awful circumstances and they living under the poverty line. Some rich people's personal property holdings are more than many African countries income. Humankind cannot be able to stop the pleasure of power that they have as a result of this situation, prevention of the inequalities between people become impossible.

According to Rousseau, people who don't have private ownership acquired overtime this right
with wars and fights. Finally chaos happened
because of their actions and died alot of people the final of these wars. People were just slaves for first man who having enclosed
o piece of ground and they had to work for him.
But Karl Marx supported common ownership instead of private ownership. İn this way classes couldn't occur in society. Everbody could have equal rights. Working class couldn't be similar slaves. Everbody could have
free education, health and other rights. These ideas which are in Marx's Kapital are similar
Rousseau's ideas. Nowadays people must be more powerful and more cruel. And then They learned to fight for their ownerships.
Rousseau's Le Contrat Social Which explains the popular sovereignty are a perfect book.
The popular sovereignty is gained with common ownership. In fact The first man who having
enclosed a piece of ground was first war criminal. THe private ownership birngs with catastrophers and wars. Ownerships always are
causes of wars.So alot of clean people died
because of private ownerships. In fact fructus
of ground and ownerships belong to everbody
And nobody couldn't die because of these concepts. Unfortunately nowadays alot of people
are similar the first man who having enclosed
a piece of ground to whom it occred to say this is mine.
''Almost absent in nature, inequality, got its strength and increase from human abilities and the progress of the human mind. If abilities were equal, the situation would remain equal in this case, but the proportions broke down suddenly, despite the equal work, one had won more.'' This is a part in Rousseau’s book about the occurence of the inequality. After the private properity had occured, fundamental changes happened in human life. That was the first step of inequality, day after day it increased, different classes occured, people battled, people died. Strong ones started dominating the weaks and it still continues. Like Rousseau ,many philosphers wrote and thought a lot about inequality and tried to solve it but their theories didn’t work in daily life because generally they omitted the human nature.Even they brought more equality to people at some points, no method of management that ignored the human abilities, ambitions and social needs could be long term. From now on for being equal again,it is impossible for people to go back to the past when they were just the consumers of nature and didn’t know anything about the private properity, It is too late to blame the first man who having enclosed a piece of ground, to whom it occurred to say this is mine.Altough living in a great equality seems utopic, improving democracy , individual rights and freedoms could be the only way to approach it.
ReplyDeleteThe man who claimed a piece of land was the first step that created the difference between strong and weak. No one questioned this man’s actions. No one claimed that land and talked about the equality. Since the difference between strong and weak had accrued, every philosopher, every great man thought about a way to make all people equal. Communism, socialism and similar ideas are based on the creating an equal society. However, I don’t believe that this utopist idea can ever work. As J.J. Rousseau stated, maybe only one person is responsible for the rivalry between mankind. It is impossible to make everyone equal as long as the difference between weak and strong continues to grow. The greed causes people to separate themselves from society and forget the feeling that what is like to help each other. As the strong people get stronger they aim to get much stronger. As a result of it weak ones get weaker. As long as mankind wants to have more and never satisfies with what they have, it is impossible for them to accept that earth is no one’s. That is why ideas like communism or socialism never work. Human’s can’t limit their mind. No one can ban them from creating or searching or discovering. Some people will be smarter than others. In today’s world we don’ have much choice. We can’t apply Rousseau’s ideas to the real world. We can only remind people as much as we can that “the fruits are everyone’s and earth is no one’s”.

ReplyDelete"Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains. One man thinks himself the master of others, but remains more of a slave than they are." says Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who thinks that there are two types of inequality among humanbeings. For J.J man was naturally good but becomes corrupted by the pernicious influence of human society and institutions. People are born good but are affected in diverse ways by the objects around them.
"You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's" he adds. For me, what he said those days is valuable even for today. People will never change. For having more money, for being more successful, men will never give up. Men will never stop stealing. They will never stop stealing ideas, money or ground. They will never create their own dreams under their ambition or jealousy. People will never stop supporting a political party, not for their "opinions", just for benefits. People are satisfied with objects. When they forget that the Earth is no-one's they lost themselves. J.J told that these who live under abundance, must be grateful for the ones who are poor. His criticism was not just against the feodalism, it was also against the lifes constituted on the inequality of earnings.
Today, J.J's ideas seems non-realistic. He never thought about removing private property. Today, we're living under the idea of capitalism. People are wilder. Rousseau's solutions are not enough for the green-eyed-monsters.

Today, private property is the basic reason for the society to rival. People’s needs and interests are based on getting stronger every single day. As Rousseau stated, the first man who stood up and said “This is mine” created civil society. So there is a direct connection between private property and inequality according to Rousseau. In his era, there were inequalities too, but they were not deep as today. Because of the civil society that came with private property, the effects of the powerful on the weak got greater day after day. Mankind had battles, committed millions of crimes, made deals, gone through numberless wild incidents in order to maximize their private property. The ideologies, the needs, the desires of people changed along with the system and the nature of the world. To claim that the Earth is no-one’s, we should reverse the whole history and since that is impossible, there is no solution to this issue. He could have been right for his own era but he could not successfully predict the consequences of the incidents that arised in the 20th century. Speaking for today, Rousseau could predict that the mankind would be lost if they try to fix it, but he is not right in saying that the Earth is no-one’s. His prevision was a close but yet not so applicable one in today’s world. In order to make it closer to our world in 21st century, we should abandon our social memory and start over. Capitalism, which makes humans greedier every day, does not allow us to do such thing.
According to Rousseau; “wild” human being haven’t got any inequality between them . Because they were living in nature consistently before cultivation and personal property starts. At the same time people have no disease except getting old and the consequences of accidents. They were living in peace till “society” was founded. When natural equality destroyed mankind started to come together with “contract”. And with this contract personal property and inequality became stronger. Wars started between nations. All of these facts were against to nature laws. But as we see in today’s society and planet “state of nature” will never come back. Almost everything based on personal property in our world now. By contrast with communism dream . today we live under the facts of capitalism. But maybe many many years later social order will turn into communism, like K.Marx said , maybe it isn’t the right time yet but I can’t believe that it is possible to turn back state of nature again. Today there is a few things in most of people’s minds: to get rich, to expend more, to occupy other people’s living space. The only way to solve inequality is to remove differences between social classes and to establish a government based on benefits of humanity. And today it seems that it is very diffucult to make this dream come true.
ReplyDeleteThe beggining of the inequality was based on the private properity. As nature starts showing her beauty bravely, but as grasping animals humans want to have, want to taste, want to waste much more of her beauty. When they taste fruit they want to taste more, when they drink water they want to drink different drink, as they built a house, they want to built towers or factories. “The fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's” this sentence is summarize whole dissatisfaction of people perfectly. None of human thought to praise and stop themselves. As days passed, people start to draw limit that they belong. This point is seen ,especially, in the private properity. A cuople of people gain, and gain, and gain, but never stop themselves. A couple of people just look at others, because as they win they lose, as they become stronger, they become weaker. Yes, it is impossible to make people equal, but there should be a limit. Today is 21st century where this inequality can realize clearly. The thing that people have to notice is our earth can consumable, and there will be end. J. J Rousseau put into words this so early.
ReplyDeleteJean Jacques Rousseau believes that people who live in the world are not equal and private properity is the biggest reason of this. If the people can say the sentence which is “this is mine” this mean that fundamental changes happen in human life. The quote which is “You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's."emphasizes the ordinary nature is the creation of property and also there is a big connection between property and inequality. If property has been created then institutional structures appear and mankind is lost because injury is the reason of property. Emerging the property strong people started to damage weak ones. Actually this the rule of life and human nature. Once the human personality, which is greedy, began to ocur in human nature they want to get much more and it does not allow us to live in equal world. Shortly when mankind accreted, inequality was increasing in a direct way. Now it is too late to apply Rousseau’s ideas to the real world because taking the possesion of something is in our nature.
ReplyDeleteIrem peker law 150.23. Private property is the basis of inequality. According to J.J.Rousseau wild people didn't have inequality. They didn't have private property. Today everything is based on money. This capitalist system works. Some people earn more and more, and the others are poor. This earth is ours and i think private property is unnessecery, but how can we get over it? Somebody work hard and some of the people do nothing. If everybody earns the same, then this will become another inequality. I think equality is an utopic word. We can't reach it. If everything is everybody's and there ia no private property, then what can the people do, who worked more? Now everything is based on money so people have political views which may provide them money. People leave their families or countries just for money. It is wrong but now there isn't any other choise.

Rousseau thought that inequality between people started with private property and he thought people who lived in antiquity was happier than now. How is person being happy by doing nothing? People are social beast, of course we need other people but it isn’t only reason to socialization. We live together because we are different than animals. We have got feelings, brain and ambition. Person who lived alone wasn’t happy because he/she didn’t know what is being happy. Also Rousseau thought that without polity, people will more equal. He said that people who scent irregularity first thought that to profit this irregularity. So he thought that resource of inequality is polity. I think it is just utopia. People weren’t blameless first. On their nature, we must live in society and in society, everybody want to take pains her/him over because of ambition. Ambition is our nature. Since the beginning of time human race was superior to other living beings. With their ability to think, they were always in a race with each other. This created the difference between weak and strong. The idea of being born equal and living equal which all philosophers including J.J. Rousseau supports do not exist in real world. The first man who claimed that land maybe started the rivalry between mankind which caused people to face the reality of human nature. Human mind can not be limited. They aim to discover and search. That is why people can’t be equal because everyone has their own physical and mental differences. To create an equal society people should think and act same and this is impossible. As Rousseau mentions people shouldn’t forget that the earth belongs to no one when they try to conquer the world. We can offer people equal rights and standards however we shouldn’t forget that the mankind still keeps this opportunity in their own hands.
ReplyDeleteRousseau believes that the human who was far away from civilization was superior than the man of today. S/he doesn't know about inequality because s/he didn't realize there could be difference between people. It was too early understand there may be roles for everybody. The roles which decide who is strong or weak. That roles came with the evolution of society. It tells to woman to sit at home and raise her child, tells to man to take care of them and be stronger. If we could stay as we were, inequality couldn't find a place to grow. But civilized people love feeling strong and superior. Human is good in his/her nature but evolution doesn't let him live. So Rousseau clearly tells us most improved human is the wild human who was naive and dealing to survive.

Because capitalist system is living on this earth
In ancient time there is no problems about money. Because people don't have any private property. They were living together. But now, people can have their own private property. So because of that there are two main different thoughts about that. On side think that, everybody should be equal in every where and every way. This system is capitalism. On the other hand, The other side think that, people should earn money how they work. The first part good for equalism but at the same time it is not so good, because people will always get same money, if they work or not. The second side is good because they can get their own private property, but also it causes big problems and it goes to wars sometimes. J.J. Rousseau said that, money can't control people. Also it can't control the world. It means we can't have everything. The world was not one of them in the past and it won't be one of us.
ReplyDeleteThis quotation emphasizes the extraordinary nature of the creation of property. It is after a strange act, which necessitates a supply of gullible people to witness it. Rousseau is very clear that the link between property and inequality is a direct one. Wars and conflict result from property. However, just as human development is irreversible, Rousseau sees no real way to return to a state in which the Earth was "no one's." It was Marx's insight that only the abolition of property could resolve this situation.
ReplyDeleteRousseau seriously attacked the institution of private property, and therefore I consider him as a forebear of modern socialism and communism. Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled. So in a capitalist world, is there any way to apply the communism? In my opinion, the answer no. First of all, world is in a globalization process and this process includes the economy. Almost all the countries(except China, Cuba and North Korea ) had adopted the liberal economy and in this capitalist world, communism couldn’t resist to the free market economy because there is no incentive to work. Since everybody are equal, and everybody earns the same amount of money, what incentive is there to work? If you can earn the same amount as a doctor, as truck driving...
Communism's goal is a society without rulers. A society where the people govern themselves. But until this is accomplished a superior government has absolute power. People do not have any private possessions. Everything belongs to the government. Communists consider their goal, and the state more important than individual rights and liberties. In communist countries, there are usually huge gaps between official claims of freedom and conditions in which they actually exist. For example, under communism the Soviet Union had a constitution which assured citizens freedom of speech, press, and assembly. The constitution guaranteed the right to a job and freedom of religion too. It promised equal rights for all. But in the late 1980's the Soviet government ignored and violated many of these rights. If anyone have had criticized the system in public, they were punished. No media was allowed to be published if it opposed the government or it's leaders. So communism seems to be a good theory with it’s “equality” sense but in reality it has a big potential turning into a dictatorial domination.

ReplyDeleteAll humans are born with some commen features. “The sense of owning, commanding and jealousy” are the three of those commen features. All the wars, horrors, murders and crimes mankind had, are because of these humanly senses.
At the beginning, the world was enough for everyone. Although the population was small, and the land was enough there was still wars and crimes.Over the years the mankind conquered the earth. The population and the needs of humans increased.
In order to live a better life, to achieve their ambitions and to satisfy those humanly senses, people never stopped fighting.
These fights created two kinds of human: the weak and the strong. Today although weaks are the majority, strong ones have the power and the money. They control the society and use those weak people for their own wills. The few controls the many.

ReplyDeleteAccording to Rousseau, there are two kinds of men.Rich and poor and the difference betwween them is the idea of private property.
When the mankind was created they were all equal because they didn't have anything different. But when human started to have the idea 'It's mine' everything changed.People started to become different because that was the reason to create the rich and the poor. The ones who own the land were the riches and the others were the poors.
The human passed the golden age when they started to own the land because they were not equal anymore.
Rousseau says that the source of all the fights, catastrophes and the bad things were caused by the private property. The idea of private property is unfair because a land cannot have more than one owner.
The solution that Rousseau found for this problem is a social agreement. That means an agreement between rich and poor to have a peaceful life because the poors wanted the richness that the others have,so they could start sacrifice their freedom to keep thier land.
Rousseau believes that the civil society was founded by the man who first created private property. Before this, there was savage man in his very first nature. Unlike Hobbes who believes that the savage man was in a constant war, Rousseau says that the savage man was the most happy one in human history. He didn’t have any language except for crying out when he is danger. He was brave and he used his physical potential at its peak because he didn’t have any tools to make up for his deficiencies. With the creation of private property, the war began. First, it was to protect what he already has, then it was to have more. Actually the same thing still continues in our world today. Our primary concern is to protect our properties, and the second one is having even more. At this point, Rousseau’s thoughts fit into piece again: “You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's.” The man who works so hard to have a piece of “Earth” finally gets it, but before he can enjoy its “fruits”, he wants to have even more of it. He works even harder to have another one while the fruits are waiting for him. However the truth is that he will never have enough “Earth” so that he could stop working and enjoy the “fruits”. Today, the rich never becomes enough rich to stop working and enjoy the rest of his life. When he dies, he will not leave the earth with his properties but with his good memories. Since he never had enough time to enjoy himself, the amount of his good memories are very little.
ReplyDeleteTaking action based on this thought would be very utopic. It is not very realistic to stop working and leave our private properties to only enjoy the fruits of the Earth. If we go back to the savage man, his primary concern was to protect himself. He did this mostly on physical bases because that was how his enemy was as well. However, in order to protect ourselves today, we need to possess private property. To guarantee our future, we must have some savings so that we can use them when we are really in need of them. Rousseau’s idea of savage man is very idealized because he is portrayed as very happy. However, as I said, he is “idealized”, not rationalized.

ReplyDeleteWhen the human were born, they were born equally. They had the same rights and the same condition of life.So they were free because there were no difference between them. That means there were no rich to reign and no poor to obey.
Human found the idea of private property by chance. When they discovered this idea, people started to call the land their own property.
This was the incident which caused people to become different. Two kinds of men were created;rich and poor.
The solution is a social agreement which should be made to make rich and poor to live in peace.

ReplyDeleteJean Jacques Rousseau is known that he analysed human nature. "Discours sur l’Origin et les Pondements de l’Ingalite" and "Du Contrat Social" tell everything about his ideas. Rousseau also tells us If we clean people from passion, competition, peculiar; we can create people from beginning. I think it is incredible idea if you are Pollyanna Whittier.(You know that optimistic orphan girl.) But please get real and think about real life. Thinking about J.J.R is living in fool paradise.
Okay, I accept that everyone is equal, everyone must live in same standarts but unhappily we are coming from adam and eve (you know that apple and passion about reaching it) and we have all same desires. We are crazy for being one, being at zenith and possesing. We never give up. And property is one of important things for the human race. Law began with property and human being improved them with property. All wars existed because of this passion since the year dot.(conquer conquer conqure, get get get ) We never could manage our passion of property.
You must know that we are all good people. We always want everyone to be okey. We pray etc. But it is all in theory. In practically, we only think about ourselves and property is pretty much most important thing that we can show ourselves to world. People are selfish. J.J.R is living in Pandora(it is ohh so like paradise) with his ideas about property. In this world noone is equal and noone can be.
I never defend to capitalism but I am awake. "You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's." This sentence in written by person who has glasses which can't show greed, passion, competition and something like that... I think it is easy to write and talk about be aqual. But it never was and never will be.

ReplyDeleteAccording to Rousseau, the first man to ever "own" a land was the founder of civil society as we know it today. However Rousseau fails to notice that people had started to live together as clans as means for survival long before property ownership thus what initiated civil societies was simply the need to survive. In this quotation Rousseau attempts to scrutinize how disparity came into being and hierarchical system commenced. For today’s society, “...You are lost if you forget that the fruits are everyone's and the Earth no-one's.” is an acceptable idea. Today we have not only lost people but lost continents. For example the USA went to war with Iraq to "restore peace in East", they killed millions and tore the country down. As far as we know nothing was restored except the USA fuel tanks. Commodity is what people are after. The crave for more- land, money and power- has gone so outragous that people now began to twist history for their own profit.
As of today 21 countries have acknowledged the Armenian Genocide which does not exist nor in document neither in reality. Armenians know for a fact that their mothers were not slaughtered by "vicious turks", they died of hunger as did turkish soldiers.
After all, Armenians are not after honoring their ancestors, they want the "fruits" of what this litigate has in store for them. In this quotation Rousseau attempts to scrutinize how disparity came into being when hierarchical system commenced.
J.J. Rousseau believed that wild people didn't have inequality. It all started with the private property mentality. The wild people had limited appetite for possesion, because they lived a very simple life. Their ambitions and desires was common and wasn't beyond physical needs. Under these circumstances it was easier to share. As the people mind and life advanced through the centuries, everything became complexer. People started to vary from each other. They wanted different things, had different ideas, as a result they started to have arguments. That's why wars made for. I don't think Rousseau's ideas are appliciable for todays world. Today, we live in a world of capitalism. I don't think it's a flawless system and the best for people but I also don't know a better one. Rousseau's ideas are valuable for us to build a new and a less cruel system but also just an utopia.

ReplyDeleteToday's society are afraid of the planet they live in and don't like it owing to overage of crimes, wars, murders, miseries, horrors. These
have been going on since the man who had created the private ownership on the ground. The private ownership has created people who defied the inequality by destroying fredoom of others to get more ground, harvest and power. So malcontent mankind killed equality and brought greed into the world. Greedy people have become capable of everything by walking the lines. In this way this planet turnet into hell broke loose. On the other hand I think this man who had taken possesion of a piece of Earth originated the world "equality" by killing it. Since we, people created most of abstract words to explain the things which we ask or need to.

but how we can be sure that this properties make us more civilized? some people says that the begining of the mankind started with private properties but some others like Rousseau thinks that this is the begining of the wars and murders. in my opinion, we can't abolish private property today but it's obvious that this causes an inequality between people. actually, hard workers and lazy people can't be same and can't have the same private property. Giving the same oppurtunities to everyone, we can ensure them to be equal. if everybody starts the race on the same line, according to their performances they will decide who they are going to be.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, depending on the basic question and basic marks, J.J Rousseau claims the the equalities and human rights should be shared by human being in order not to live in a world with crimes, wars or bad habits. It can basically be tought as similar as the Marks opinions however it's some kind of a dream due to world order and our living behaviours. If it's not, Communist Maniphesto wouldnt have failed in terms of everyside. Futhermore the man who had started the order is not essential anymore since the basic question is not'' who''.. The question is ''how''. How society works? How did people do for living? These are important facts for human being now and discussing the ethics in this concept is neither beneficial nor need. ''Homo Homini Lupus''( People are the worms of people) could show the reality of todays world order and definition of equality. At this point; unfortunately the biggest inequality is equality because competition and our egos are so much different than the mans;who had started the society. For these reasons we couldnt state that human rights and equalities must be in ethic ways. We could believe it however realities will definitely win in all ways, just like in LAW...

Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the 18th century philospher claimed that inequality and collision rises from the concept of property. One can see how his theory proved itself in today's world as many of the people of the 21st century had to face war, international crisis, insoluble conflicts that emerged from the issue of land and property. As much as Rousseo's proposal seems to promise the humankind a Utopia in which the complete equality can be furnished, I have to disagree that such never-land would make its establishment in the 21st century.Anyhow, people tried to establish equality throughout history by reestablishing the notion of land and property. The streams of socialism can be seen as the same idea of establishing equality through restructuringland and property; however it recognized the existence of "the first man having enclosed a piece of ground and founding civil society" and attempted to construct Rousseau's never land.

ReplyDeleteWe don't discourse that equality in the world. At first view this idea may seem very horrible and intentional, but in fact equality is a utopic notion/conception for humanbeing. We can't find any equality on the world, if we put our best.Because, no one is equal with no one. For example, someone is blind but other one is not blind. Someone is ver clever but other one is not very clever. Someone is stronger than other one. If there were any equality, we couldn't mention superiority adjectives. Allrigt, but what are the origins of inequality?
According to Jean-Jacques Rousseau, civilizization is the basic origin of inequality. In starting of life, first humans who have wild life, were equal because they had no civil life and relations and they had never wish to take origins which they had not need. So, they they had everythinh that thay had need. bUT, when first civziliations were established, people wanted to own that what they want, altough they didn't need. So, the men that have more power tan others, captured others rights, goods, etc..
In fact in early life, also firs humans there were any equality. Origins are/were shared equally any time.On the other hand, in the basics of ideas al people are equal. Besides, the real problem is this. Because people want to be equal but their life devoted to inequality. So they use "juctice" in order to solve this problem. Juctice provide that balance of inequalities.
Nowadays, humankind is at the top of the their demolition; but this is not first. Humankind has experienced demolitions time to time, but humankind has experienced very good times. We always know that more better world has any equality, only has more better justice and people. If we look for real equality, we should look for it another place.
In order to more better life, every people should struggle with their own dynamics. Firstly every person should correct their mistakes on the world and should think that other's rights.

The God gives ability and capacity to some people not everyone. But it doesn’t show us that The God isn’t just. İf poeple are created similar,we would be angels and the world would be paradise
Thomas Hobes says “A man is a wolf of a man”. Habil and Kabil,Adam’s and Eve’s first children. Kabil killed Habil this is first crime, first battle. There is no peace and equality if there is a war. Everyones has bad feeling jealousy, haughty, desire of violence etc. However Human must control these feelings for peace, equality.
J.J.Rousseau says “society without equality and devouring people by people depend on private property”. It isn’t exactly true . Because some people born leader and they direct others.Someones are in need of someones management. Every people does’nt have similar brain power, intelligance. Power includes physicial differences which are brain, psyhic, body cause political inequality. So politic leaders must justice between people. There can not be no wonderful equality, but can be justice.
Consequently, inequality depends on The God but people cause inequality. The God doesn’t provide equality between people but He wants people behave justly eachother
jj refers to two types of inequality in his book "the source of inequality between people".The first is the inequality caused by nature, age, intelligence, physical attributes consisting of the difference between. The other one is political inequality.Reason, in passing the civilized from primitive society to society is the lost value. Compassion, pity are passed to the forefront of the mind.
ReplyDeleteone of the biggest causes of inequality is the introduction of private property. The transition from primitive social conditions, private ownership and the inequities of private ownership brings have completely removed to people from nature. And today, we are seen their effects in a good way.
The first man, who created a land his personal sovereignty, formed the hierarchical structure between people. This structure designated the structural frame of the world. In primitive societies people are equal and there is no private property. Life is more peaceful. Then one humanbeing said "it's mine" and everything started. Private property appeared and caused to wars, crimes and a real competition between people. According to J.J Rousseau the reason of this inequality around the world is these two words "private property". The diffrences between rich and poor people clarified. Rich people start to win this competition because evrything based on money. Who has money wins. This thought brings the capitalist system to the world.

ReplyDeleteRousseanu thinks that the reason of the unequality among people has
been related to the society and the behaviours that they have gained
from this society.the more the civilizations get developed, the more
the idea of property and the changes in the nature influence the
unequalities among them. there are two types of unequality: one of
them encloses the intelligence, age, health and mental issues which are
from birth and called physical unequalities.these are dependant to
negotiation among people. These two unequalities emerge from the
people's desires for fame, success and reputation. According to
rousseanu, the nature of the people before civilization wasn't a war
situation, but an environment where people lived happly and freely. In
that situation some changes had happened ,especially in the sense of
properity had corrupted this pure happiness. So they started looking
for the freedom and equality in the political system. Rousseau
suggests a social contract for this case.

early on primitve societies there is no privacy or inequality. every item was apportionable once. all the people were on the same way and equal all of their presence. when the idea of private property had appeared, hierarchical structure was also appeared. thereby a lot of senses were created like ambition, desire, greed etc. by the people. they started to change and vary from each other. so they wanted a lot of different things. in my point of view jjr's ideas are so lunatic and utopic. in my opinion there are no explicable or achievable goals in our lives and societies.

In the beginning of the world, there was no certain owner of a place. Anybody could eat apple from the fields, or cook some meat. One day, somehow one-man kind figures out having something "by himself". Then he declines that ground belongs to him. Since nobody can prove that is not true, everybody believes him. That cannot happen nowadays, since the society has rules. Therefore, what J.J. Rousseau said was an unachievable goal, maybe harder than a utopic country. It is true that an apple tree does not belong to anyone, but that first man, who figured out having something, has changed in society. I would say what J.J. Rousseau said is true, but it cannot be realistic in civil society.
